The WASTE Project addresses poor waste management, youth unemployment, food insecurity, and poverty in Greater Jinja through a circular economy model that transforms 10 tons of organic waste daily into biogas, compost, and maggots by 2030.

Why This Matters
- 94.6% of households use unsafe waste disposal methods

Project Goal
Transform 10 tons of Jinja’s daily organic waste into valuable resources by 2030 to create jobs, enhance agriculture, and promote clean energy.
Objectives & Activities
1.Waste Recycling & Management
- Build a 10-acre facility
- Process 10 tons/day into useful outputs
- Monthly awareness campaigns
2.Youth Employment & Training
- Hire and train 121 youth
- 1,800 trained in circular economy practices
- Startup kits for youth enterprises
3.Food Security & Agriculture
- Set up livestock and crop farming units
- Produce maggots, compost, crops
- Subsidize food for vulnerable households
4. Clean Energy Promotion
- Biogas unit to supply 10% of households
- Distribute gas cylinders
- Reduce wood and charcoal reliance
