Our Story: How ROCAF Began
ROCAF was born out of compassion and urgency. In 2014, while doing his internship at the Medico-Legal Department of Jinja Regional Referral Hospital, Mr. Robert.K. Kaucha encountered a heartbreaking case that changed his life. A 15-year-old girl had been raped at a water well. Due to a delayed response and systemic inefficiencies, she missed life-saving post-exposure prophylaxis and emergency contraception. Three months later, she tested HIV-positive. Moved by the trauma and preventable suffering, Robert was inspired to act.
In 2017, he shared his vision with two close friends, Ms. Caroline Adikini and Mr. Grace Michael Basimbe. Together, they founded Romic Medical Centre, initially focusing on examining and treating victims of sexual assault. As the scope of needs in the community grew, so did their mission—expanding into Romic Care Foundation, a holistic organization offering medical, psychosocial, and economic empowerment services.
We’re a highly collaborative and supportive team, coming together on every project to ensure our patients get the very best result.
